TRNC Signs Agreement with Turkish Airlines
The signing ceremony took place at the presidential office in Lefkosa, the capital city, with the participation of TRNC President Ersin Tatar alongside several senior government officials.
The agreement was officially signed by TRNC Prime Minister Unal Ustel and Turkish Airlines Board of Directors and Executive Committee Chair Ahmet Bolat, in the presence of President Tatar.
The protocol aims to enhance air transport accessibility to the TRNC by lowering prices, stabilizing fares, and encouraging more tourist arrivals.
Under this plan, AJet will operate shuttle services between Ercan Airport in the TRNC and key urban centers in Türkiye.
A significant aspect of the agreement sets a price cap for tickets on flights connecting Türkiye and the TRNC at 6,000 Turkish liras (approximately USD150).
In addition, following a promotional event held on July 26 in London, the round-trip fare for flights between London Stansted Airport and Ercan Airport has been established at EURO250 (about USD293).
President Tatar emphasized the positive influence of this agreement on the TRNC’s tourism industry, stating, “With these steps, the competitiveness of the tourism sector will rise.”
