Jazzmeia Horn Graces Istanbul Jazz Festival
(MENAFN) American jazz singer Jazzmeia Horn took the stage at the 32nd edition of the Istanbul Jazz Festival, an event hosted by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV).
Her performance was part of a lineup celebrating jazz talent from around the world.
In a conversation with a news agency, Horn shared her appreciation for the reception she received during her appearance on Monday at Swissotel The Bosphorus Sultan Park.
"This is my first time in Türkiye. I haven’t had the chance to fully absorb Turkish culture, but based on what I’ve experienced so far, everyone seems really nice," said Horn, expressing her initial impressions of the country and its people.
Horn revealed that her setlist featured tracks from her recent record Messages, including Free Your Mind, Submit to the Unknown, and Don’t Forget Your Love.
These songs, she explained, focus on themes of love and personal well-being.
“Most of the songs are about love and taking care of yourself. I'm a mother, so sometimes it’s hard for me to take care of myself. Being a musician, traveling, and doing all these things at once is tough -- I tried to reflect that message in my music. I think it’s really important not to forget yourself or the love within you. I keep a positive mindset, so I’m very hopeful. I truly hope everything goes well, and I’m very excited about it," she said.
Horn’s remarks highlighted the emotional and reflective nature of her performance, conveying the importance of maintaining inner peace while balancing motherhood and a demanding career in music.
